Hazardous Trees That Should Be Removed From Your Property

Posted on

Have you recently moved into a new home? Are you starting to make new landscaping plans for your yard? While many trees are beneficial and enhance the look of your property, others are less than ideal and may even be dangerous to have. Here is a list of some trees that you may want to replace as soon as possible:

Silver maple: Silver maples grow quickly, making them an attractive tree for people who want a lot of shade in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, this fast growth means that their wood is brittle and easily broken. They also have shallow roots and can be infected by a number of diseases and insects, making each tree a disaster that's waiting to happen. If you have a silver maple in your yard, it may only be a matter of time before nature uproots it somehow and causes property damage. A local tree removal company can safely get rid of the tree, freeing space for a more appropriate plant.

Willow: Willows both grow fast and consume a large quantity of water. As a result, willow roots can easily grow into and clog your sewer line or septic tank. Due to their large size and the somewhat small size of many city lots, they may even grow into your neighbors' sewer pipes as well. In addition, like the silver maple, their quick growth and relatively soft wood means that a willow tree close to your house may shed large limbs onto your home or vehicle during a wind storm, potentially causing expensive damage. Tree removal is the best option for this benign-looking tree.

Eucalyptus: This is another tree that is prone to dropping limbs unexpectedly. Unlike other trees, however, eucalyptus limbs may drop on windless days and for no apparent reason. Regular pruning of a eucalyptus tree may be able to alleviate some of the danger, but tree removal is probably going to be the best choice for most people.

Black walnut: Walnut trees can be beautiful, and the nuts they produce can be delicious, but black walnuts are a poor choice if you want to grow anything else in your yard. Black walnuts can secrete a chemical called juglone that is toxic to a variety of plant species. While not every plant will have problems with growing near your black walnut, it may be difficult to find landscaping companions that will tolerate the tree. Because the juglone can persist in the soil for some time after the tree is gone, it's best to remove the tree as soon as possible if you want to grow plants that are sensitive to this chemical.

If you have any of these trees in your yard, it's a good idea to contact local tree removal and talk about removing the tree.
