Enhance Your Home With Flowers

Posted on

After the holidays are over, taking all the decorations down is kind of a let down. Gone is the sparkle and magic, and your home might feel downright dull. You can take care of that by using flowers to bring color and beauty into your home. Fresh flowers are available year round, as they are flown in from all parts of the world. However, silk flowers are another great option.

Start With Your Front Door - First impressions count!

  • When you think of front doors, you usually think of wreaths. However, consider thinking outside of the box. Hobby stores have adorable metal decor that can hold your flowers and be used as a front door embellishment. Consider a half-birdhouse that you fill with greenery, a few well-placed flowers, and a pretty decorative bird. Of course, if you want to follow tradition and you would prefer a wreath, select flowers that will be pretty against the color of your front door.

The Living Area - Continue the focus on flowers as you enter your home

  • Do you have an entry table? Consider a large flower arrangement that matches your wall art. For example, if you have an impressionistic print by Monet, borrow from the flowers in the scene and use them in your arrangement. If the framed art is that of a beach scene, consider mixing flowers with pussy willows and other grasses, and set shells next to the arrangement.
  • The living room is a great place to be creative. Consider using several bud vases of different styles in a grouping and putting only one flower in each one. Choose different hues of the same color for a sophisticated look, or totally different colors for drama.
  • Even if your dining room is not a formal one, consider using a lovely crystal or silver bowl to hold your arrangement. Place candelabras on each side of the arrangement, too. Be sure that the arrangement is not going to get in the way of people having a good conversation.
  • Use baskets in your kitchen. A basket in the middle of your kitchen table will be adorable. Consider buying artificial apples and embellishing the arrangement with baby's breath or tiny daisies. Placing a farmyard animal like a chicken or a duck next to the arrangement will be truly endearing.

Don't be afraid to do your own arrangements There's nothing quite so charming as flowers that have been haphazardly placed in a container. They will just look like they grew in your own back yard! If however, you want a pulled-together look, contact a florist, like Fasan Florist, for professionally arranged flowers.
